It’s hard to follow up a blog post by a giant robot dinosaur that spews awesomeness in the form of startup zen wisdom, but I’ll do my best.
Launch day (Tuesday) and yesterday were both crazzzzzzy hectic and fun days. A whirlwind of activity – emails, calls, tweets, likes, +1′s, shares, texts, voicemails…we heard from everyone and anyone. There are some happier than others with Extreme Startups’ launch, and that’s okay. What we’re building isn’t for everyone – it’s only for companies and partners who are interested in building companies that will grow and thrive in an increasingly competitive global economy. Maybe that’s you. Maybe that gets you excited. If it is, we want to hear from you.
I’m personally responding to Jevon’s CTA. Let’s do this! Let’s be world class. Toronto’s gained some pretty respectable ground in the past few years on the global tech scene and we’re looking to be a part of that trend. Actually, we’re looking to help redefine that trend.
Over the past year as a VC, I’ve wondered why things seemed so disjointed in the Toronto tech culture. Whether it’s some perceived level of competition or the belief that there aren’t enough resources to go around, Extreme Startups aims to help solve it. And here’s the catch –
We’re not making it exclusive to companies and partners who are involved in the Extreme Startups program. We want Extreme Startups to be a hub that helps connect entrepreneurs, angels, VCs, and industry. And we’ve decided to do that on a regular basis by inviting people from those varying yet connected communities to CONNECT.
After Tuesday’s successful SproutUp, we felt there was no better company to help us host our first round of Office Hours. Sarah and Erin have graciously decided to host our first Office Hours event at the Sprouter offices – and you can look for more of these events down the line.
There’s no dress code (just your snazzy, startup best – cool t-shirts always welcome). There’s no agenda. Just the chance to meet people that you can bounce ideas off of and – who knows – even share a laugh or tow with as you start on developing some long-term relationships.
And as FAKEGRIMLOCK says, show up OR ELSE!
Friday 12-4pm, February 10th
